Mail It Monday

I have an confession. It is embarrassing. I don't mail the cards I make. I have every intention of mailing them, but life always gets in the way. Its not a good excuse. But I still use it. Please tell me that I am not the only person who does this!

Its time to change that. Now. Time to start new habits. Time to start sharing love and kindness with friends and family. Handmade, straight-from-my-heart, love.

Today is the start of that change. Today I am starting Mail It Monday. Monday will become the day we remember to send cards. Even one card. A post card. Not a bill, that is just sad. :D

Every Monday I will be sharing the reminder to mail your cards. I also have a TON of inspiration and encouragement in the weeks ahead! I have guests joining me with great ideas and products. There will be organizational tips, mailing advice, and so, so much more! Of course there will be prizes, cannot forget about those!

This is FREE. Totally free. I want to share with you. Learn together. Become better at intentional card mailing! Does this sound like something you need? Then join in. All you have to do is play along. On Mondays, use the hashtag #MailItMonday when you post on social media. Post a card you are sending. Post a card you received. Post a photo of your mailbox! :D

Growing a community of card-MAILERS, not just card-MAKERS.
That is the goal. Encourage one another. Send love to one another. Mail those cards!

Sincerely Yours,

P.S. Much of this will happen on Instagram. I love hanging out there. So, pop on over and follow me. You can find me @kimberlystamps. But don't worry, I will have posts here too. :D

stationery set with Modern + Marbled

One of the best gifts to give a special someone is a set of handmade cards! When I saw this pretty, pale pink stationery box in the Papertrey Ink store, I knew it was perfect! Not to mention how well it coordinates with my Modern + Marbled color palette!

This stationery box ships flat and is easy to assemble. The box will hold standard A2 cards and envelopes next to each other, making for a lovely inside presentation.

I stamped simple cards and created decorative envelopes for the inside of my stationery box.

To close my stationery box, I tied with with string. I added coordinating elements from the Modern + Marbled kit to tie everything together. (no pun intended with the whole string thing!) I added gold gilding flakes to the outside edge of the middle hexagon from the die set and a striped panel using the straight line stamp image. The finishing touch was using one of the self-adhesive wax seals to hold the string to the box. These flexible seals are SO unique! And of course, I love the symbol of the fern leaf, sincerity. For the Sincerely Yours line. :D

I would LOVE to see what you are creating with the Modern + Marbled kit! Be sure and tag me, or Papertrey Ink when you post online. Or even send me an email! The hashtags are #sincerelyyourspti or #papertreyink or #kimberlystamps. Seeing what you create is the absolute BEST part of all of this!

glow-in-the-dark Halloween card video tutorial

Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night with a great idea?! It happens to me often, and this card is a result of one of those crazy thoughts!

I had purchased several different colors of the Nuvo Glow Drops and had NO idea what to do with them. I began thinking about how to use the drops, and then, it struck me! Eye background! Even better? Glow-in-the-Dark eye background!!

You can see how well these Nuvo Glow Drops truly work! Look at how cute on the little ghost cheeks! :D

I began by drawing pairs of small ovals on a piece of black card stock. I used three different colors of the Nuvo Glow Drops. After finishing the colors, to give the eyes their centers, I added Ebony Black Nuvo Crystal Drops. For more information, suggestions, and details, watch the video below.

gold foiled sentiment with a glue pen video tutorial

Hello everyone! Happy September! I am sure you are all back in the school swing of things! Who is ready to head back into their crafty space and start creating again?! I have a super easy idea for you today to get your mojo flowing!

I made this sentiment gold foiled without heat or a glue pad! No, really! I did it with a stamp, a glue pen, and some Nuvo gilding flakes! All supplies contained in my Modern + Marbled kit!

By using the stamp as guidelines for my glue pen, I can easily turn any sentiment shimmery! Best part about this technique is, the card is truly flat! No bulk, and easy to mail!!

This video shows you just how easy it is to create this look yourself. And I show how to make some pretty eye-catching envelopes as well! Because every card needs a beautiful and coordinating envelope!

Altenew August 2017 Release Blog Hop Day 2 + Giveaway

Hello! I am back hopping along with Altenew again and I could not be more excited! The August 2017 Release is live and available and totally gorgeous!

I started out playing with the Rose Filament Die Set. This set of six roses creates gorgeous open flowers with delicate lines. I am pretty sure I cut about 100 of these beautiful flowers and had fun experimenting with all sorts of ways to use the roses. This first card is my favorite result of my creative play time.

I cut watercolor paper with the Rose Filament Die Set and used a piece of watercolor paper as my base. Each of the roses was glued to the paper in a pattern I liked. The parts of the roses hanging off the edge were trimmed away to fit the panel.

Using Gansai Tambi watercolors, I painted over the top of the entire panel. I used the colors 57, 62, and 67. I mixed and painted until I achieved the mottled look you see here. It almost looks like a copper patina finish.

Over each of the flowers, I applied a metallic wax-based paste. This paste leaves behind a gorgeous, shiny, metallic finish, where ever it is applied. I used my finger to carefully control where the paste ended up, but a brush works just as well. I also used the paste on some wood dots to make them coordinate.

The paste does take some time to dry, but the result is worth it. The paste comes in many colors and shades. If you are into die-cutting, you need some of this paste! As always, if you are interested in any of the products I am using today, please see the lists at the bottom of this post.

I finished the card off with a vellum panel stamped with a heat embossed sentiment. The sentiment is from a new set of stamps called, More Than Words. The combination of fonts is elegant and the wording is lovely. The sentiments in this set make beautiful cards, but would make even better titles and words for scrapbook layouts.

For this card I used the same die cut roses from the Rose Filament Die Set. I painted these with the Gansai Tambi watercolors again.

A piece of striped paper from the Reflections 6x6 Paper Pad was a fun touch. Mostly because, don't all things need stripes? (I may be addicted to stripes in all areas of my life.)

I used glue to adhere the flowers to the card. I wanted to keep the dimension and natural look to the roses, so I only applied the glue in a few select places.

And finally, my happy accident card. This is a scrap piece of paper. No joke.

As I was water coloring the die cut roses, I put a piece of watercolor paper underneath. (water coloring in the living room while watching a movie with the family requires a little more neatness than in my office. lol) As I lifted the colored roses away, this beautiful image was left behind!

I finished it off by stamping a sentiment from More Than Words, and well, it is a lovely little card!

This is quite the blog hop. In fact, there are 2 days of hopping! Be sure and visit the Altenew blog (link below) for all the fun and eye candy. If you are just joining the hop here on my blog, here is the list of those hopping today.
